Exclusive to Adelaide
Choreography by Jiří Kylián, Crystal Pite and Hofesh Shechter
Simple gestures resonate with poetry. Performed by the supremely articulate dancers of Cedar Lake, Ten Duets is a work I could happily see again
In 2015, Adelaide Festival welcomes the extraordinary New York-based contemporary ballet company Cedar Lake to Australia for the first time with two must-see performances, Mixed Rep and Orbo Novo.
Featuring extraordinary works by three of the world’s most forward-thinking choreographers, Mixed Rep showcases the remarkable versatility of this New York contemporary ballet company’s expansive catalogue. From Jiří Kylián’s cleverly constructed celebration of youth Indigo Rose, to Crystal Pite’s refreshing literal and intimate Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue, and the dark and primal Violet Kid in Hofesh Shechter’s unmistakable style, this is one of the world’s most innovative dance companies at its exceptionally-talented best.
